and Responsibilities: An operating room technician, also called a surgical technician, is a specialist who facilitates surgery before,
during and after a procedure. Before surgery they prepare and transport
patients, set up equipment, surgical instruments, and other supplies in the operating room, and help surgeons scrub and dress.
Salary: $44,252 - $40,093
Education: This training establishes them as
professionals who understand the foundations of surgical technology and medical
principles. As of October 2013, there are more than 460 accredited training
programs in the U.S., according to the Commission on Accreditation of Allied
Health Education Programs.
